Byrd Before and After

AL

It’s been 6 weeks since my second leg surgery with Dr. Byrd. My first was in October and second mid November. I am so thankful to Dr. Marcia Byrd for changing my life! My pain is gone and I am ecstatic with my results and it’s only been a MONTH!!! My legs were heavy and swollen all the time. This picture was taken in July and the second was taken today (I took my first break from wearing the garment today after 6 weeks from my 2nd surgery-but I do plan on wearing it the full 8 weeks). Can’t wait to see what the future months will look like🙏🏻. Thank you thank you thank you Dr. Byrd for my “Byrd” legs

This is what Dr. Byrd did for me! I will never forget her hugging me and telling me she was doing what she was called to do!

You won’t have a better caring doctor than Dr. Marcia Byrd! She’s the bomb! I’ve had the works and couldn’t be more satisfied.

Lipedema TestimonialJune 2017 while on a tour of Portugal and Spain a lovely Australian lady told me about Lipedema. I went to hotel room looked it up and cried for an hour. The tree trunks legs, the bruising, the pain!! it had a name and a death sentence. My poor Mom suffered her entire life and never knew it was NOT her fault. Started research and getting diagnosed.
As a child I knew my legs were shaped weird but they didn’t start exploding until puberty, then 2 pregnancies, then hysterectomy at age 42, then viral meningitis (steroids)in 2009. It seems like hormonal or traumatic illness ready escalates the growth. Oh how I wish I had know at an earlier age. I may have chosen other options than hysterectomy. And I certainly would have eliminated carbs and sugar.

Okay Ladies, I put $2000 down and scheduled two surgeries with Dr. Byrd in Atlanta, GA for October 30 and nov 1. I’m not sure if insurance will pay, but we are going to try! Her office is so helpful and I am so excited! I would never had gotten the nerve without this fb site and all the glorious success stories. I look forward to sharing mine soon!! Saying goodbye to these lippy legs!!
OCT. 30 and Nov 1, 2018 WAL upper and lower legs, 14.5 liters removed 2 surgeries. Dr. Marcia Byrd, Roswell, GA. $20,000 USD
Dec. 2018. I sent photos to Dr. Byrd tonight and have to share with group. I had a fall and facial surgery so it has not been an easy recovery. But my sister who was with me in Georgia is here this week and said we are taking photos. I’m blown away. I’m beyond excited. More later. My husband is nominated for employee of the year and we have award dinner Dec. 7th. Hoping to wear a dress!! (I did) I have not worn a dress in 30 years.
I just had my year follow up with Dr. Byrd. Im scheduled for touch up on Nov. 8 on knees and ankles!! #lifeisgood
Lost 30 pounds post surgery and total of 50 since surgery.. Follow lazy keto, walk 1 to 2 miles a day, ride bike 2 or 3 times a week, yoga and move, move, move!! I wear compression, do pump several times a week.
Size 16 to size 12. 230 lbs to 180 lb. 6′ 1″ tall
July 2021 Update. So covid has been difficult. I gained 10 pounds but working hard to get it off. Keto is the key for me. It doesn’t work for everyone but find what works for you. My daughter is getting married July 3 2022 so extra incentive to get back to 180.
Good luck to each of you.

My dad’s wife took this photo yesterday and I always cringe when my legs are going to be in a photo. But when I saw it, I realized really what a great job you did and that I need to get over my lifelong history of “cankles”. I still wear compression almost all the time, and know if I didn’t my legs would look a lot different because I can feel the swelling. But how wonderful to play in the water or wear shorts for a while feeling “normal”! You are awesome!

So far, I have had 2 lipedema procedures, the lower front and the lower back of my legs. I appreciate Dr. Byrd and I am grateful for her. God gave her a gift. I have several more procedures to go and I can’t wait to see those results and feel how much better I’ll be. I am almost 2 weeks post op from the lower back legs procedure. I m still a bit sore but I am healing fine. I have worn my compression stockings just as she said to. I have cut back on carbs.I use my tactile pumps three times a week and then everyday and night I do my own lymphatic drainage massage. I did have some lumpy areas but that was as expected and has gotten better every day. I try to focus massaging more on areas that seem to be more swollen. I believe this has helped tremendously with my healing process. The staff and nurses at Dr. Byrds clinic are the sweetest. I call all the time with questions and they are always able to answer my questions or help me with whatever I need. I love everyone there at the Lipedema Surgery Center. I highly recommend Dr.Byrd and her staff for anyone with Lipedema issues like me.

I have completed my surgeries with Dr Byrd. I am so very pleased. Being from Texas I researched the Lipedema professionals and stood out. They helped with securing insurance from my provider. Every surgery was a good experience. Knowing that she studied with the professionals in Germany and now dedicates her practice to those who suffer with Lipedema was the biggest consideration. Outstanding office staff always willing to help. Great facility to perform the surgeries. All this led to me getting the help I needed. Thank you Dr Byrd. I now have Byrd legs!

Dr Byrd is a very caring and thoughtful surgeon. She and her wonderful team make you feel welcomed and at ease. I finally have the confidence to wear clothes I never dreamed of having the confidence to wear. I feel amazing and it’s all down to her! Thank you!

CA 2023

Two years ago even before I knew about lipedema, I gave up sugar and alcohol and started a low carb lifestyle. In July of 2022 I discovered my lipedema and started other conservative treatments for managing this disease. In two years I lost 80 lbs. This past Feb and March, I had 4 lipo procedures on my legs with Dr Byrd in Georgia. This is the difference lifestyle changes and surgery can make in a body. I’m still fighting with my insurance for fair compensation for my surgery. My plan is to continue eating healthy, abstaining from sugar and alcohol, and making sure I’m compliant with Dr. Byrd’s recommendations for long term success. It’s been a roller coaster of emotions this past year, but every peak and valley has been worth it.
